Happy Father's Day!

I think I’ve already expressed how much my dad means to me – and how great I think he is.

But let me just say.

Going to baseball games with my dad as a kid was always fun. We’d pile into the car, head to Shea Stadium as a family.

When we got out of the car to walk around, I’d hold my dad’s pinky finger..because his hands were (and still are) that much bigger than mine.

And we’d sit down to watch the game. EVERY vendor that came by made a stop at us.

I’d have ice cream, and hot dogs a soda and cotton candy and Cracker Jacks and peanuts..

And then I’d fall asleep.

Like clockwork.

And dad would carry me back to the car when the game was over.

And let me tell you, this founded my love of baseball – a true love of food. LOL

And recently we went to the Mets game.

Except now I have seats where waiters come to you and serve you off of a menu. Sure vendors walk by..but it’s not the same.

And I don’t fall asleep anymore. I stay awake – and I actually watch the game.

But I still hold his hand when we walk back to the car – mostly to help him now. But every now and then, I hold his pinky finger..and I feel six years old again.

And you know what?

I like it.

Happy Father’s Day, dad! And to all of the other dads out there that can and will always make their children feel like children (in a good way), when they may need it most.

XOXO,
B

Love that blog:) I remember going to Dodger Stadium as a little guy and getting this and that. My Dad would make some wry comment about me nickle and diming him to death. But you know what?

On the way out of the ballpark, and we stayed until the game concluded (No LA LA land bs for my Dad), we would always stop by the souvenier stand, smile at me and say, "What will it be this time?"

As an adult and a Dad, one of my fav memories is being at a game with my son and my Dad. It doesn't get much better than that.

Tell your Dad Happy Fathers Day from me:)

Kim - I took him red velvet cupcakes and Banananilla pudding. He has a bigger sweet tooth than me.

BigD - Dad's make life hard for their little girls, you know. Because very few men in life will ever measure up. :) Somehow..I think Rach might have the same problem I did..LOL
